FinOps that sticks

Cost visibility, ownership, and the minimum dashboards that matter.

finopscloud

FinOps fails when it becomes a monthly report no one reads. It sticks when cost becomes a shared habit.

Make cost visible by default

Put spend where teams already work: dashboards in Slack, budgets in the repo, and alerts that trigger before a surprise bill.

Tie ownership to action

Assign cost centers to teams and link them to real knobs—instance size, storage class, or caching. If teams can’t affect spend, they’ll ignore it.

Keep it minimal

Three dashboards are usually enough: top drivers, trend over time, and forecast vs. budget. Everything else is noise.

Outcome

When cost is actionable and visible, optimization becomes continuous instead of a quarterly fire drill.
